First aid training and FREC courses, delivered by experienced professionals. Regular courses are held at our training centre, based in Plymouth, Devon. We can also run them for clients on a nationwide and international scale offsite or at your premises.
Our medical courses are accredited by Qualsafe, one of the largest Ofqual recognised awarding organisations in the UK.
International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code courses either at our training centre in the UK, at your premises or off-site. We have e-learning courses for Proficiency in Designated Security Duties and Proficiency in Security Awareness which can be taken solely online without the need to visit an assessment centre.
Securewest provide consultancy related to the ISPS Code including our ISPS ship, Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) or port security assessment and plan services. Our aim is to ensure that the highest standards of security management is in place for our clients, their personnel and facilities worldwide.
Our Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely and Working Safely courses cover the essentials of health and safety in the workplace. They are aimed at employees and managers in all types of organisations and look at people’s responsibilities for health and safety, and workplace hazards and risks, and how to control them.
Securewest provide education and assessor qualifications for those who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector, including those who are not in a teaching role.
Experienced, professional trainers run a range of travel risk training courses to enhance your traveller safety and meet your duty-of-care obligations. They are aimed at groups of travellers, high-risk individuals or persons responsible for booking travel.
We include modules for diverse traveller groups, and where required, content can be amended in line with your branding, policies and processes. We aim to increase risk awareness and reduce the impact of incidents on the traveller and organisation.
ELCAS (Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme) funding is available to serving and ex-members of the British Armed Forces. As an Approved Training Centre, you can use your ELCAS funding for a selection of our courses to progress your career and further develop your skills.
The Securewest International Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded 10 maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 13 – 19 April 2021. The following incidents were recorded:
13-APR-21 – Robbery – A dinghy with a 30 HP outboard was stolen in Saint Martin Orient Bay.
13-APR-21– Migrant and Refugee – Dozens of migrants arrived at Dover after being brought to shore by Border Force officials as they crossed the English Channel in small boats.
14-APR-21 – Robbery – The anchored LPG tanker SEA SUCCESS was boarded and robbed by three assailants in Callao Anchorage off the coast of Lima in Peru.
14-APR-21 – General Security Warning – Israeli and Arab media reports say an Israeli-owned vessel has been involved in an incident off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, East of Fujairah.
15-APR-21 – Robbery – An in the water dinghy and a 15HP Yamaha outboard were stolen from a catamaran in Martinique, St Anne.
16-APR-21 – Robbery – An unlocked AB dinghy with a 30 HP outboard was stolen from pier one dock in Trinidad and Tobago.
16-APR-21 – Maritime Information Advisory – UKMTO Notice 006/APR/2021 advises that a firing practice will be carried out between 19 and 20 April 2021 – Link
16-APR-21 – Migrant and Refugee – At least 41 people, including a child, drowned when a boat capsized off the Tunisian coast while trying to reach Italy.
16-APR-21 – Robbery – The underway ship IONNA L was attacked approximately 36 nm E of Port of Singapore. Four intruders boarded the ship, injured the fourth engineer, fleeing afterwards with engine spares.
19-APR-21 – Maritime Information Advisory – Firing practice will be carried out between 0800 and 1200 UTC in an area bounded by the following coordinates – Link
Migrant and Refugee Incident: This could involve Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, or information about a boat capsizing and people drowning, or an attack on the group.
Robbery: Theft from a vessel or from persons aboard the vessel.
General Security Warning: Incidents which do not fit in the other categories, but enhance the situational awareness, e.g. flag state advisories or an attack on a non- commercial vessel such as a warship.
Maritime Information Advisory: Notable maritime updates e.g., Military exercises, Curfews and Advisories.
